Healthy Expectations Brochure

Healthy Expectations is coordinated by George Mason University's Center for the Advancement of Public Health. Healthy Expectations focuses on helping first-year students at George Mason University in their transition from high school to college, with a specific focus on reducing high-risk drinking during this important year. Healthy Expectations embraces an approach to prevention based on an innovative Life Health Planning model. Using this model, Healthy Expectations attempts to change the campus culture and create healthy social norms. Below is a description of the philosophy that underlies Healthy Expectations, and how it differs from traditional prevention activities. Correcting Misperceptions

Students' decisions about alcohol are significantly influenced by the behavior of their peers. Yet, students often incorretly assume their peers are using alcohol at higher levels than the actually are. See what we have found.
